In the past, budget-conscious new-car buyers had limited options. Today, it’s hard to find a competitor with pricing as attractive as the Chery Tiggo 4 Pro. The Chinese are known for getting many things right, especially affordability. The Tiggo 4 Pro is a testament to value for money, and I recently had the chance to experience it firsthand. There are six trims available: Tiggo 4 Pro 1.5L Manual, Tiggo 4 Pro 1.5L CVT, Tiggo 4 Pro 1.5L Comfort CVT, Tiggo 4 Pro 1.5T DCT, Tiggo 4 Pro 1.5T Elite CVT, and Tiggo 4 Pro 1.5T Elite DCT.
The Tiggo 4 Pro features several notable design elements, including a large grille with integrated LED headlamps and LED daytime running lights. With 17-inch machined alloy wheels, the Chery Tiggo 4 Pro has a polished, eye-catching look that’s bound to turn heads.

The 10.25-inch touchscreen supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, with three USB ports positioned throughout the cabin for convenience. The synthetic leather upholstery, power-adjustable seats with multi-stage heating, and features like the sunroof, digital instrument cluster, in-car refrigerator, and the “Hey Chery” voice assistant make for a highly enjoyable driving experience.
Under the bonnet, the Tiggo 4 Pro houses a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, delivering 108kW and 210Nm of torque to the front wheels. While exact fuel consumption was difficult to gauge, Chery claims a combined figure of 7.3L/100km. However, what truly impressed us was the Tiggo 4 Pro’s performance on the road; it accelerates smoothly and maintains speed comfortably even beyond the 80km/h mark.

As new car prices continue to rise in South Africa, Chery strengthens its position as a value-driven leader, with the Tiggo 4 Pro selling like hotcakes earlier this year.
The Tiggo 4 Pro is priced between R269,995 and R415,900 (October 2024) and includes a 5-year/150,000km warranty along with a 10-year/1-million km engine warranty for the first owner.
